Prepare Him Room (advent)

I'll have to go back at some point and document our November and Thanksgiving, because it was really wonderful. But right now we are in the middle of Advent season. And I am so thankful that I chose to be intentional with our days and focus because all those little advent activities? They are making ME slow down and create space for the things I consider most important. And they are drawing us closer together as a family. Our home feels more peaceful and joyful than usual. God and His love for us is constantly on our minds as we pull each little slip of paper out of our advent calendar, and the days that we are most blessed are not those that bring news of a trinket or craft, but the days we get to give to others.

It's amazing to me how much God loves us and eagerly pours out lavish spiritual blessings on us. We are (i am) so undeserving. My little family will continue to move through December making as much room for Him as we possibly can.

Because when He came down to earth as a babe? He filled every darkness and gaping hole with His presence and hope. And that is what we most desperately need, isn't it? Making more room for that, for HIM in our lives.

*a few photos of the first weekend in december - we kicked off our advent season with lots of family time. Rob ran a local 5k, we spontaneously went out for brunch afterwards, and began decorating the house. It helped that the temps were in the 50's...
